Pressure washers use a high-pressure spray to clean different surfaces, meaning they can clean many objects around your home. A specially designed pump produces the spray. The pounds per square inch (PSI) produced are almost a hundred times more powerful than your average garden hose. These machines can remove mold, oil, and dirt from a concrete driveway. They can cut through debris and dirt on a wooden deck. You can use these washers to clean vinyl and aluminum siding as well. These efficient pressure washers can tackle just about any outdoor cleaning job around your home. How do you choose a replacement pressure washer hose?
There are many factors to consider when choosing a new hose. Some of these factors include:
- Length: The length of the hose depends on your personal preference. You will need to select a line that can reach all your outdoor jobs.
- Diameter: Hoses are not one size fits all. They come in many different diameters. The smallest ones are 1/4 inch and rated for 2700 PSI. A medium line is 5/16 inch and usable for 2700 to 3400 PSI. The largest is the 3/8-inch hose and can handle up to 5000 PSI.
- Connection: You will need to check your connections. The lines can either screw or snap into place. The connection is important as it attaches the hose to the washer and the wand.
- Material: Hoses can be made out of rubber, polyurethane, or PVC plastic. PVC is the most common material. Rubber hoses are flexible but can be heavy. Polyurethane hoses are steel braided and bend easily.
A pressure washer produces between 40 to 45 PSI for a normal cleaning job. These machines should never exceed 60 PSI. All the washers have a pressure regulator as a safety feature. The regulator is usually set to 50 PSI as a recommended level. You can always adjust these levels from 25 to 75 PSI.
