How well does the camera process fast moving objects?

For JVC camcorders that have high-definition (HD) mode, 30 progressively scanned frames per second are taken. Objects that are slower appear to have a smooth motion. For faster movements, some noticeable shaking may be present as it would with any standard camera that films usually at 24 frames per second. By switching to standard definition, which uses 60 scanned frames per second, you'll see a reduction of the shaky cam effect. Trying both modes typically reveals which works better for the individual device and the given situation.

Can the zoom and focus be manually controlled?

Yes, though the method may vary from one individual camcorder to the next. On many of the cameras, the digital zoom can be manipulated by a variable speed rocker control while on some a zoom ring can be used on the lens. The focus is typically either handled automatically or on some cameras can be controlled using a focus ring.

Can you edit photos and video with other editing software?

A standard editing program is included with most of the cameras, but thanks to the USB connectivity, the images and videos can be downloaded to a desktop or laptop computer to be edited in any imaging software you wish to use. A converter program may be needed to convert images to standard digital formats for use in other programs but such are widely available.
