Roku 4

Excellent video quality (color shading and gray scale appears to be slightly better than the Roku Express+). The wireless control is much appreciated as the remote does not need to be lifted into line-of-sight with base Ultra unit. The unit operates faster on commands than the standard units, as promised, which is a pleasant improvement. The reason for a "4" is twofold: (1) the remote can only control the TV through the HDMI connection, so it cannot be programmed to control an associated audio amplifier system, and (2) the unit has no SPDIF (TOSLINK) optical output for the audio amplifier, requiring the purchase of an additional device in the HDMI line to intercept and output the audio.

I've always enjoyed the Roku products. I purchased this one to replace the Roku 2, which was constantly overheating because it didn't have a cooling-fan. When it overheated, it would be hot to the touch and would prevent the movie titles from loading and cause latency. I was pleased with how easy the Roku 4 was to set up, activate, and use. I love the easy-to-navigate user interface, features (voice search, remote finder, private listening via remote, private listening via mobile device), and overall quality! The cooling-fan is somewhat loud and tends to run constantly (even when not being used), but it's significantly better than the Roku 2.

Based on my previous purchase of a Roku Stick - this Ultra unit is the only one to really consider. It gives you the maximum features and is really worth the extra money. It also (last time I checked) was the only unit that ROKU backs up and will warranty and for which it will offer tech support. I love the "find my remote" button and now have replaced all my other units with these Ultra units. There is a reason that ROKU is WAY ahead of the other Firesticks and Apples. Just a better value and full offering of everything you might want!!

I like the unit, but my goal was to have Kodi installed and learned later that you need an Android based device to install. The Roku will mirror content from Kodi on other devices, but it didn't work in my environment using two sources, so picked up a Firestick and installed Kodi and working great. It is now installed in another room and does a great job for integrating my media server and apps such as TabloTV. Netflilx and Prime. If you don't plan on using Kodi or Android based apps, nice interface and works great.

Ship was fast, packaging excellent! This Roku is the best/fastest I've tried yet and I've happily owned at least several Roku's. I currently have this one hooked-up to an LG UHD monitor model 32UK550/UL500 and the picture and colors are fantastic! I'll be using a PC with this monitor soon to get a wider range of volume control. The Roku couldn't control the volume on my monitor's speakers for some reason, but the volume was set near perfection anyway! Very happy!

This Roku Ultra Streaming media player replaces an older version of Roku which we had for several years, but was no longer supported by some of the streaming channels. It was relatively easy to set up, & started working smoothly right away. We're now able to access channels that we weren't able to before. The picture quality is excellent, with the 4K & HD. We also like the search for lost remote feature- wish other TV's or remotes had this.

With quad processors, I was expecting it to take less time to load program data. So far I have not seen any difference from our other Roku express units. We are using an older router. So, that may be where the bottle-neck is slowing the whole process down. I'll know more when I see if a newer router speeds things up the streaming experience.

I "cut the cable" and use UTubeTV. With my old Roku, responses were somewhat slow. The Ultra is just that: loads quickly, responds to commands (voice or buttons) right now. I also like the TV on/off feature, audio level/mute features. All I need is a single remote for everything.

Had older Roku , upgraded to a 4 . Good picture,color, and sound. Roku has good channels for streaming .You might want to get inside Ant for local News etc. Works well!

You can watch what you want to watch when you want. I have one on every TV I own.
