Excellent Device, Small Remote Troubles
I did some research for my apparently either unusual or else underserved needs before getting this. Roku devices seem to support the widest range of various services, unlike several competing products (like a Fire TV or Chromecast, each which has an accompanying service in a competition with other folks), which was important in me picking Roku. Beyond that, I tried to gather what I could about officially stated specs to decide which one to get, and wound up with this. Wired Ethernet is huge for me, which makes me actually wish that other devices had this. It seems to be moving towards an Ultra-exclusive port, which I find unfortunate because the housing situations that lead to WiFi being spotty probably overlap with the userbase that is likely to be buying cheaper devices. If the Express+ had an Ethernet port, I probably could have gotten that instead and bought new instead of used. (Apartments tend to have flooded 2.4Ghz, and even though 5Ghz is typically clear this is because so many devices only recognize the first one or two channels and that defeats the point of having so many channels and makes its own problems.) Power is alright, the adapter is 12W. I could wish it were lower, but I doubt the ones powered over microUSB are actually only pulling the 2.5W of the spec (they probably need 7.5-10W draw, so difference is negligible really) and I am willing to have faith that the idle draw is well below that even. The "Enhanced" remote that this comes with seems to be Bluetooth, which would be fine except I care for neither the "point anywhere" nor the headphone jack, and the remote needs bigger batteries and depairs itself when my Roku falls asleep for more than several minutes (fine for a bathroom break, not fine for initially firing it back up after taking a nap). I have a relative in town with two IR remotes, and I borrowed one to see if that worked better. It did, so I am now waiting for Roku to get back to me on my ticket explaining this crucial troubleshooting information to see if they have official IR remotes for sale still (Amazon is filled with off-brand ones, but if an official one is an option I want one new before I want a used one). If you live somewhere where neighbors are unlikely to abuse security holes introduced by this, the mobile app control might possibly also work, but I shut that off on mine as soon as I got it so I cannot comment on that. It sounds like, at least through the generation out right now, the Roku devices that are meant to stand on a surface (be visible from in front of your television) mostly all support IR remotes, if that is relevant. The microSD card slot does NOT add local media storage, which is a bit counterintuitive. After looking up in more detail what the microSD card slot does it became apparent that some folks use Roku devices as casual gaming machines(?), which made it make a little bit more sense that Roku would want to reformat the card to something unrecognizable (probably encrypted). The confusing part here is that there is a local media playback app by default, but unless you have a USB port this app is just for if you stand up your own media server. In hindsight I see how this makes sense, but it was a bit disappointing to learn that I could not just make an SD card exFAT (or even FAT32) and just stick local music on it. I guess that will remain a function of my Raspberry Pi for now. Looking back, I do feel like I got the best possible device I could have, I just have a small wishlist for it. The Premiere+ will not in the coming years fail to be powerful enough for what I care about it doing, I am fine setting which apps can to 480p (my TV is only 720p anyway), and almost wish I could set the Roku itself to output at that so apps might attempt to auto-detect that to reduce bandwidth usage. I could have safely gotten an Ultra (though again that would have been overkill) because if I just get an IR remote then the voice search antifeature would be moot. If the Express or Express+ only came with wired Ethernet, that would have made the difference in that device being more appropriate for my usage, but alas. The microSD card thing is also slightly irritating to me, but not a dealbreaker by any means. In short, be aware that the remote situation is more flexible than the 1:1 mapping of what you can get with your device (which means you do not have to downgrade the box to flee from voice search), be aware that the Bluetooth remotes are currently unpairing, and the microSD slot behavior might not be intuitive based on the advertising. Beyond that, the Premiere+ is an excellent device, and I imagine other Roku devices can be as well so long as you know what kinds of connectors you need. The software itself works fine and I am basically happy with this. (By the way, if you care, look up the hidden URL to make your Roku account without having to be forced to provide a credit card. It exists, it's just hidden. Dear Roku: unhide that please?)

almost perfect
I have owned 4 Roku 3's and now this Premiere +; the older 3's had a usb port, that has disappeared on all models but the top "Ultra"; I am assuming that time-of-purchase determines what extra buttons are on the remote, as they are different on three of them. Some have the enter button below the "+"-shaped navigation button, some have the enter in the center of that cross-shaped control; both work well. This particular model, Premiere+, has no A-B buttons, and i keep forgetting where the close-captioned control is on this remote (this grampa babysits and need the captions during nap times!) The surfaces of both parts are matte finish, a decided improvement over the smooth surfaces of the Roku 3s. It still has a lanyard attached, which is very helpful in finding and keeping hold of the remote - it does not have a find-me, only the Ultra has that. It seems to be more robust than the 3s in signal strength and transmission speed. The box itself is almost two times as big as the 3, but is lower, grips surfaces much better, heats up much less. We moved the two other Roku 3s we have around from tv to tv and sometimes it was hard or near impossible to get the remotes recognized by the 3's if used wireless; not so with the Premiere - it always found its paired remote instantly without prompting. This particular remote has only two of the streaming services we use, while an older, but recently purchased Roku3 has three of our services as buttons, so check to see what the current remotes offer; one special one came through a provider as part of a live tv deal, so there may be more versions of remotes than I know, so check. Whether you have a button for a service or not, it's only a click or two difference to use it, so not a big deal. As for the durability, I did no purposeful drop testing, but I did drop it once from waist height with no consequences. One note of caution: when we were trying to reset an older 3 to factory shipped condition, we broke the little clicky thing inside the tiny hole into which you place an unfolded paper clip for 30 seconds to reset it; we pushed too hard and broke it and ruined the remote; just be in a quiet plae so you can hear the tiny little click, and press easy! Overall the best Roku I've owned (also had one of the first Roku units, no longer in the lineup) - if it had a USB port it would be 5 stars. Finally, I would recommend this to ALL who to break free of $100+ cable bills who spend 30% (do you realize this?) 30% of your time spent watching commercials! The ROKU is a one-time purchase; then monthly subscriptions to the major streaming services run total about $20, and one is free with a membership in their website; so from $140 to $20/month with Zero Commercials is like viewing heaven on the cheap! Finally, if you are not a Roku user - there are literally thousands and thousands of "channels" or think of them as streaming apps for you to add, many, many of them are free. Some are really dorky and for very specific interests, but some are amazing! I have access to all the major "TV" channel news reports, and even an app that lets you access local news and weather for anywhere in the country; at least 4 weather apps for free, screensavers, cooking channels, travel channels, old movie/tv channels, on and on. It's just the best way to entertain oneself with programming, and saving a bundle of money. You won't even miss new movies or current tv shows, but for those you will pay, and it's easy on the Roku, you can go one-by-one or subscribe to a service, but I cannot see you ever paying out what cable wants to stream you duplicate, commercial-laden, irrelevant programming - it really does return control to the watchers! Best of luck!

Roku Premiere okay not great
The device is easy to use and setup. I have cable subscription so I can use a lot of the channel apps which require cable subscription. I don't like the fact that I have to individually login to each channel app. It was time consuming. Plus I did it on my smartphone. It should be able to detect or ask once only. Also, the startup of the Roku is a bit slow. When I turn it on, I have to wait a couple minutes. I guess it is establishing an Internet connection to the server. I wish Roku had all the local channels live. This would eliminate my antenna. I use a separate tuner box for live local channels. I wish roku offered NBC sports local so I could watch my warriors games without having to use my laptop for screen mirroring. If I can access my cable over a laptop, I should be able to access over the Roku. But they don't have an app for that channel.

HDCP 2.2 required!
I've been using roku ever since I picked up a fancy, new Roku 3 a long while back. They're great! My Roku 4 exhibited many of the problems that circulate the internet, so I decided to upgrade to the Premiere+ which effectively mirrors the features of the Roku4 (but without the problems). The first thing that hit me was that it lives up to its promise. No loud fans, no remote pairing issues, all fixed! The downside is that I was all of a sudden unable to view 4K video! Fear not, I was able to rectify the issue by using a different HDMI port on my stereo receiver; however, it was a bit of a headache. Be forewarned that you will need HDCP 2.2 support on your TV and any device that daisy chains to the TV (like a receiver, for example).

Roku Premier Plus
Relax, take deep breaths, prior to setting up unit. Need to establish a ROKU account, not mentioned anywhere in documentation. Consistent of inputting your name, address & credit card info. Credit card is so you have ability to pay for any additional items. Examples include rental or purchasing movies; or other services requiring a payment. Includes ability to add personal PIN, thus providing ability to limit the use to owner and/or designee. Hadn't expected requirement to set-up, in retrospect, great feature. PIN deposit wasn't expected and reccomend Roku include explanation in directions. Otherwise, smooth with ease set-up. Overall unit operation, excellent, provides overwhelming variety of entertainment options. From news, entertainment, science, videos, music with concerts available. More channels than ever realized available.

Roku for You
This is my 2nd Roku. My first purchase was dictated by needing a Roku to receive my Slingbox. At that time only Roku had the app. That said, I purchased my 2nd one for my home tv to relace an outdated one that came with a house purchase. There are many devices to stream tv and movies. The Roku works well and the particular feature that captivates me is the remote with earbuds. This allows me to watch programs at night without disturbing the house and at 68, dialogue is much easier to understand using the earbuds. Quick to set up and I only reboot it about once a year.

Older Roku Model Works Great!
I was looking for an older Roku streaming device that had gotten good reviews and was hoping to find one that was new in the box. This product fit the bill, and has been very easy to set up and figure out how to use. I've only had it up and running for a few days, but it streams so much better than just my LG TV could by itself. Speed is awesome, I'm using it WiFi, and picture quality is great (4K). The remote is a bit funky to use (left, right, up, down, but no point anywhere), but overall, I'm very happy with the system!

EXACTLY WHAT I NEEDED!
I needed a streaming device to provide 4k content to my new 4k UHD HDR tv. I have been using a ROKU3, but needed to upgrade for the new tv 4k resoluton. The ROKU Ultra had a couple of additional features, but i did not need them and was able to do hat wanted with a less expensive unit. The changeover from the ROKU3 to the new ROKU Premiere+ was sextremely easy and the setting chages were extremely easy to make. The unit has been performing perfectly and I have no complaints at all at this time.

Good product for the price, hopefully it will solve our issue.
This product is okay if you're into old movies. It's a bit confusing to navigate until you get used to it. There's lots of channels to add to your list, however many of them require a monthly fee to access them. We purchased this to try to get from under a huge monthly cable bill, but I'm not completely sure this will provide that. Hopefully, I can figure out how to access all the few channels we regularly watch from cable, and be able to do away with cable as it has become very expensive. Thanks.

Works great, hoping for a couple new features
This is a great little unit. I hope, down the line, that they'll incorporate tv listings that are more cable like, and the ability to set reminders. All things considered, I don't regret ditching cable. I'm paying half of what I did before. I'm able to get nearly all of what I watched before. Just make sure you have a fast enough internet (about 25 mbps to stream 4k). This unit performs flawlessly. Quite satisfied with my purchase. If you google this unit, you'll find more info and many "thumbs Up".
